More Than You Can Handle?
“…God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability…”
1Corinthians 10:13
Dear Journey Family…
“God doesn’t give you more than you can handle”, that is a common phrase that is floating around our culture and even into our churches. But is that true? Is that really in the Bible? That was the question Pastor Justin asked this last Sunday.
Can we handle what God gives us?
Not to spoil things here but the short answer is: no.
That is why we need the savior, and the helper and our Father. Pastor Justin does an excellent job at showing us verse after verse in the Bible where we can clearly see that we are totally and utterly unable to “handle” this life on our own. Many people who don’t trust in the Lord and that have a successful life according to this world, would deny this truth. But we are talking about eternal matters here first and foremost, but even in our current life on this earth, we might be doing well in some areas but there are other areas in which things can be out of hand, out of control. Internal struggles, temptations, addictions, stress to name a few.
Unless we give ourselves up completely and rely totally on God’s strength and we give him the glory for any good in our lives, we are going to have a hard time “handling it”

Colorful Success!
Thank you to everyone that made it to our first ever Bible By Colors paint class.
We had a wonderful group of kids and adults painting away our thirsty deer. We read from Psalm 42:
' As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. '
Psalm 42:1.
You can watch a little recap of the event, the artists and their artwork here:
Baptisms
We already have people interested and signed up to “get dunked” this August 21st.
In all seriousness, though, do you know of anyone who is thinking about this or you yourself are interested in taking this important step in the life of a follower of Christ?
Maybe there are questions that we can answer for you. What is baptism? Why we get baptized? We are here to walk alongside you in this decision.
Please let us know!
You can watch our last “baptistees” sharing about their decision and experience in the link below, it can give you also a better idea of why at Journey we encourage brothers and sisters to take this step.
Journey Church’s First Ever Blood Drive
We are teaming up with OSU and Versiti to offer the opportunity to donate blood. August 29th from 1pm-6pm right at our location (8500 Memorial Dr.) Anyone that wishes to participate can sign up, so pass the information along.
See the invitation below.
Part 3
We are at the end of the month of July already! And Pastor Brian will be back on the platform to bring us the third message in our series “The Lies We Believe” - “You Can't Out-Give God”
Remember to check it out online in case you can’t make it in person but also invite someone to our service, give yourself and us the opportunity to be a blessing through our Sunday service to someone you know; it’s as easy as sending them the link below:
And that’s all we have for now.
Now it’s your turn to let us know what your thoughts are.
Are you feeling crushed in life? Are you trying to handle things in your own strength? What are ways we can pray and come alongside you to release the weight?
Please let us know. We’d love to pray for you.
Please email us to info@journeychurchcolumbus.org.
And until next time, thanks for reading.
