Murder and Anger

'But here is what I tell you. Do not be angry with a brother or sister. Anyone who is angry with them will be judged. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ must stand trial in court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire in hell. '

Matthew 5:22

Dear Journey Family…

Fourth of July is here and with it the reminder that we live in a country blessed with freedom that in other countries they can only dream of.

And yet we complain.

Looking at the “cultural landscape” we see that many Americans are definitely not happy with what this country has accomplish. And we can complain. Most of the time, complaining comes from a place of self centeredness. We look at ourselves. We put ourselves in a victim’s position. The truth is that even in the most free of places, we can remain slaves to our own desires and sins. And on the other hand those countries where liberties have been taken away, people can enjoy a freedom that only God can give through his son Jesus and what he did on the cross.

Hopefully this fourth of July you can celebrate the freedom in this country but more important to receive the freedom from your sin and the assurance of eternal life in Christ when you put your trust in Him.

Pastor Brian shared with us on Sunday about the freedom we can experience not only in us but in those around us when we rid ourselves of the anger we sometimes allow in our lives.

You can watch his message here:

As a reminder, every Wednesday we release Journey In The Word, with a short excerpt from Sunday’s sermon highlighting important truths from it; you can find it here:

This Sunday at 10am Pastor Brian will be sharing sermon number 13 on the Raising The Bar series.

Bible By Colors

Ready to paint?!

Saturday July 23rd (originally we had it scheduled for the 30th, but switched it to the 23rd) at 3pm we will kick off our art class inspired by God’s scriptures. We want this to be not just an activity for our kids, we want to use this opportunity to invite friends young and older, as long as they can use a paintbrush and follow instructions (6 years old and up).

Bible By Colors is a free event, but if you would like to contribute to pay for the costs of materials you can do so as well, there is a section in the sign up form to do that.

Please sign up on the link below, we need to know how many people will be coming to get enough materials for everyone.

Invite your family, invite your friends, we want to see the room full of painters.

The event is assisted by Joni & Friends of Ohio.

And that’s all we have for now.

Now it’s your turn to let us know what your thoughts are. How do you celebrate the 4th of July? What traditions do you have? How has God blessed you by being part of this country?

We’d love to hear about it and pray for you.

Please email us to info@journeychurchcolumbus.org.

And until next time, thanks for reading.
