A Chore?

'Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. '

Matthew 5:19

Dear Journey Family…

Do you consider yourself a follower of Christ? And if so, how do you feel about His commands? Are they chores or tasks that need to be done or does your love for the Lord and his instructions propel you to gladly stick with them and follow them? After all they were given by a God of love who knows what is best and has our best interest in mind.

Sometimes it can feel like we are numbly checking things off of an eternal daily check list that will repeat tomorrow, and we can lose that joy that David had for God’s direction: 'I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. ' Psalms 119:14

That was part of Pastor Brian’s message last Sunday from the 11th sermon in the series “Raising The Bar”.

If you want to watch the message or rewatch it here are three options, just click on any of the following buttons:

wow, god!

Thanks to everyone that served and helped during this year’s Kids Summerama, we had close to 30 kids and about 10 of those, decided to put their trust in Jesus, we are now praying and doing follow up with them and their families to make sure that the seed that was planted, can be nurtured and grow to bear fruit for the glory of God.

We will be having our first Bible By Colors art class for anyone starting at age 6 and up to 99 (sorry to those centenarians out there).

workshop

Compassion for the Disabled

Journey Church and Delaware Bible Church will be working together to have a Disability and Etiquette Workshop that will take place on Saturday, July 23 from 8:30am to 1:00pm at the Delaware Bible Church facilities which are located on 45 Bella Ave. Delaware, Ohio.

This is a good opportunity to get some education on how to interact with people with disabilities in the church environment, with a lot of “do’s and don’ts” that will help us be more welcoming, aware and inclusive in our churches.

The event is assisted by Joni & Friends of Ohio.

The cost is $10 per person and you can register by clicking on the button below:

And that’s all we have for now.

Now it’s your turn to let us know what your thoughts are. Are you struggling with following Jesus to the point that it feels like a chore? Or do you have the joy of being not only a hearer but a doer of God’s word?

We’d love to hear about it and pray for you.

Please email us to info@journeychurchcolumbus.org.

And until next time, thanks for reading.
