Family Pastors

'And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. '

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Dear Journey Family…

We are the pastors of our homes.

The word pastor in Spanish literally means shepherd. That’s what they call the pastor at church in Spanish speaking countries: “Shepherd”

Justin Harrington charged parents on Sunday with this same task.

To be shepherds in our own homes.

Of our own children.

To protect them, to equip them, to guide them, to nurture them, to warn them, to teach them to live in this evil world that is ready to devour them the moment they are left set adrift.

But who is going to protect, equip, guide, nurture, warn and teach us? That’s what the Lord promises us as parents, he will give us all we need to complete this task, not only will He give us all we need, He himself will be with us, not just with us but within us.

It is a challenging and even daunting responsibility but remember we are not alone in this. If we trust in Him, He will do more than we can ever expect.

It doesn’t matter how old your kids are, family discipleship is a life-long endeavor but ever so rewarding.

All We Need Now Is Kids!!

A couple of weeks away from our Kids Summerama ‘22 and everything seems to be falling into place, thanks to the Lord!

Have you invited someone?

We hope so, because we are preparing many exciting and fun things that we are sure the kids will enjoy.

For instance, the last day, we will have a Bubble and Foam party to close the day and the event, so everybody bring your wet suits!

There are still a few things that we need help with, so if you have time and are interested in serving in this event, please click here and sign up to volunteer.

When is this, you ask?! Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 15th - 16th (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday), 10am - 12pm for kids ages Kindergarten to 5th grade.

If you want to send the invitation to someone, if you want to print it or email it, you can download it here

And to sign your kid up, click on the button below.

Thanks LifeWise Academy!

Last Sunday we had the visit during our service of Allie from LifeWise Academy, an organization that started out of the need to bring the Bible back into our school system to influence kids with God’s word. And she made us aware to the importance to bring kids to the knowledge of God’s truth in a world that wants to corrupt them and teach lies as truth. So we were challenged to pray for them and get involved if the Lord is calling us to.

Small Groups

Are you in a small group?

We hope you are. Small groups are one of the most vital ministries here at Journey and we use them not just as a regular weekly or biweekly meeting to “hang out”, but this is where real spiritual growth can be brought about, where we can support one another in prayer, where we serve one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, where we keep each other accountable, and connect with new people as well.

Have you invited your friends to your small group?

Then you should. We want new people to know the real Journey and in the small groups we have a better chance to experience that, the love, the warmth, and the Holy Spirit working in us as a group in prayer, in support and carrying each other’s burdens.

So whether you are in a small group or are considering joining one, if you want information about them, please let us know.

You can go to Church Center and see our small groups or you can email us here for more info.

And that’s all we have for now. Now it’s your turn to let us know what your thoughts are, share a story with us about what God has done in your children’s lives or how he helped you in raising them; we’d love to hear about it and pray for you.

Please email us to info@journeychurchcolumbus.org.

And until next time, thanks for reading.
