I Love My Enemy
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”
Matthew 5:43-44
Dear Journey Family…
What is your first instinct, your first “gut feeling” when you come across someone that disagrees with you? Or someone who doesn’t show you respect, cut you off on the road, or took your place at the register. Or how about someone who bullies you? Isn’t our first reaction to “hit back”, retribution, revenge, payback?
That’s the way of this world.
Not Jesus’ way, though.
But it’s not easy to say, “Oh, that’s ok. You go ahead. I love you”.
Actually it is impossible. On our own. Go ahead, try to do it on your own strength. You might be able to keep it up for a little bit, but on our own we are doomed to fail and give in to our carnal, sinful reflexes
That’s why we need Jesus. Only he can make us perfect and only then we can share His love. And bless those who curse us and love those who persecute us or hate us.
That was our message last Sunday. The last verses in Matthew 5. Hopefully helping us to stop and think if we are trusting in Jesus to make us perfect or if we are trying to work it out on our own, to “earn” our perfection.

Small Groups
Do you know that Journey has several Small Groups that meet regularly and you can be a part of? That’s right! In Small Groups you get to grow the most in your faith as each group’s goal is to dive into Scripture for spiritual growth, you get to encourage those around you in the group but also be encouraged by brothers and sisters that are on the same path as you, the path of a follower of Christ to every day become more like Him.
These are some of our Small Groups and the point people in case you have questions (feel free to click on each to go to their page on Church Center):
If you need more information on any of these or in general about Small Groups, please let us know. You can email us at info@journeychurchcolumbus.org
Journeymen BBQ
A little update to our BBQ, now it’s Tuesday, October 11th from 6pm to 8pm.
Make sure to change the date if you are planning on coming so you don’t miss it
And if you haven’t registered, you can still go ahead and do it, we are so excited to get everyone of our men at Journey to join us for a great time to eat some good food (Justin is planning to go big with the food, special cooking deck and whatnot) and fellowship.
Please click on the button to register and let us know you are coming and while you are at it, invite a friend. They won’t regret it.
And that’s all we have for now.
It’s your turn now to let us know what your thoughts are.
When was the last time you show love to someone who was not kind to you? How did they respond?
Please let us know. We’d love to pray with you.
