You are invited to join us Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m., at Dutch Kitchen in Plain City for a breakfast with a purpose! Besides a delicious home-style breakfast, we will have the opportunity to get acquainted with and provide support for the ministry of Safe Harbor House in Springfield, Ohio.

The core purposes for Safe Harbor House are Engaging women with truth in love…Empowering women through healing and hope…Equipping women with skills for daily living. The ministry provides safe, transitional housing for women coming out of difficult circumstances, including substance abuse, incarceration, prostitution/sex trafficking, homelessness or domestic abuse. Safe Harbor empowers women who have experienced brokenness through opportunities for healing and personal growth that provide holistic life-skills training.

To help Safe Harbor House provide a place for these at-risk women, we are asking each woman to bring an item to contribute such as cleaning supplies, paper towels, HE laundry detergents, trash bags, toilet paper, etc. The Founder of Safe Harbor House, Joy Fagan, will join us and share about this incredible ministry. This would also be a wonderful opportunity for our middle and high school young women to attend.

The cost for the breakfast is $10. You can rsvp to Carol George at carol.price.george@gmail.com, or sign up on Sunday at Journey. I hope you can join us.

Something’s “fishy” at Journey, and you can almost smell it. That’s because we are in the middle of a two-week video series by Andy Stanley called “Go Fish”. In the first week we learned that Jesus didn’t say “Follow me and I’ll make you a better husband, better wife, better student, more organized, or more spiritual.” These things may happen, but they are not God’s primary agenda for us. God’s primary agenda for us is to make us fishers of men.

17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” 18 At once they left their nets and followed him. Mark 1:17-18

This Sunday, February 3rd, we will learn that fishing for men is not as hard as we make it. In fact, every “follower” can do it and should. And to help us become fishers of men, Andy will explain a simple presentation of the Gospel from Scripture that can easily be shared with others. I hope you will join us.

What comes to mind when you think of Brazil? First, I think of soccer and sports. Then I think of the exciting cities like Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Brasilia. But there is more to Brazil than sports and cities. Brazil is also home to many small indigenous people groups who live in the rural areas and still do not have the Bible in their own language. One is the Aikana Indians.

Journey Church is supporting the project to get the Bible in the Aikana Indian language, but we want to do more. In addition to financial support, we are sending a team of five members of Journey Church including Bill Williams, Carlo Corral, Melissa Partch, Justin Harrington and Dennis George to the Aikana Indians October 23 through November 2.

During that time we will be busy…

teaching, training and encouraging the Aikana Church leaders, volunteers, congregation and children through preaching, teaching and children’s Bible studies.

painting, repairing and retouching the village church.

delivering small goods such as flashlights, school supplies, tooth brushes, tooth paste and other items that are much needed, including a digital camera to the Indian Chief, which he requested.

sharing the Gospel to anyone that the Lord brings across our path, not only there, but throughout the entire trip.

But we can’t do any of these things without you. We need your prayers. Please pray that the Lord would give us the wisdom and the words as we speak and interact with the Aikana Indians. Pray also for our strength and safety as we travel and spend time in the Rainforest. Pray too for our families as we are away from them for a short time.

In addition to your prayers, we need your help by donating small flashlights, school supplies, tooth brushes, tooth paste, combs, brushes and other toiletries. Please bring them with you THIS SUNDAY, October 21. Finally, we need your help by sharing financially in this project. You can help financially by sharing in this Sunday’s “Bridge to Brazil” offering.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and your support as we continue together to Discover Life in Christ, Dare to Live in Community and Dream of Changing the World.
