Show your team spirit on Tailgate Sunday at Journey Church November 4,10 a.m., at the Dublin Recreation Center by wearing your favorite team gear.  The morning will begin with a brunch, so bring your favorite brunch or tailgate item to share.

Dust off your instrument and come early to participate in the Journey Pep Band. You can let Ken Neff know of your participation so music will be ready for you.

We are excited to welcome Chris Schweisthal with OSU’s Athletes In Action  as our special guest speaker.

Bridges to Brazil

Oct 19, 2012   //   by georgec   //   Journey Stuff, Our Blog  //  Comments Off on Bridges to Brazil

What comes to mind when you think of Brazil?  First, I think of soccer and sports.  Then I think of the exciting cities like Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Brasilia.  But there is more to Brazil than sports and cities. Brazil is also home to many small indigenous people groups who live in the rural areas and still do not have the Bible in their own language.  One is the Aikana Indians.

Journey Church is supporting the project to get the Bible in the Aikana Indian language, but we want to do more.  In addition to financial support, we are sending a team of five members of Journey Church including Bill Williams, Carlo Corral, Melissa Partch, Justin Harrington and Dennis George to the Aikana Indians October 23 through November 2.

During that time we will be busy…

  • teaching, training and encouraging the Aikana Church leaders, volunteers, congregation and children through preaching, teaching and children’s Bible studies.
  •  painting, repairing and retouching the village church.
  •  delivering small goods such as flashlights, school supplies, tooth brushes, tooth paste and other items that are much needed, including a digital camera to the Indian Chief, which he requested.
  • sharing the Gospel to anyone that the Lord brings across our path, not only there, but throughout the entire trip.

But we can’t do any of these things without you.  We need your prayers.  Please pray that the Lord would give us the wisdom and the words as we speak and interact with the Aikana Indians.  Pray also for our strength and safety as we travel and spend time in the Rainforest.  Pray too for our families as we are away from them for a short time.

In addition to your prayers, we need your help by donating small flashlights, school supplies, tooth brushes, tooth paste, combs, brushes and other toiletries.  Please bring them with you THIS SUNDAY, October 21.  Finally, we need your help by sharing financially in this project.  You can help financially by sharing in this Sunday’s “Bridge to Brazil” offering.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and your support as we continue together to Discover Life in Christ, Dare to Live in Community and Dream of Changing the World.

It’s Your Move!

Sep 8, 2012   //   by georgec   //   Blog, Journey Stuff, Our Blog  //  Comments Off on It’s Your Move!
Life is a game board. Time is your opponent. If you procrastinate you will lose the game. You must make a move to be victorious. Napoleon Hill

Have you ever played a board or card game when after a few minutes of silence someone finally says to you, “It’s your move”? Whenever I play a game someone is bound to say that to me. I am either stuck contemplating my many options, or distracted and lost in space waiting for my turn.

Sometimes it’s that way in our spiritual journey. God made the last move and now it’s our turn. But, we’re stuck, stuck contemplating our many options of what to do next, or simply distracted and lost in space somewhere not knowing what to do next.

If. . .

you are a new believer and not sure what to do next, or

you’ve been a believer for a long time but your faith has become stagnant and stale, or

you are a mature Christian and looking for a way to disciple others,

. . . you are invited to join us SUNDAYs at Journey during this six week teaching series called “It’s Your Move; Five Questions to Ask Yourself When You are Stuck or Wondering What to Do Next” focusing on one of the most important chapters in the Bible, Romans chapter 12.
