Discussion Questions – God Is Not Partial

Teeing it up:

Have you ever been “stereotyped” or labeled?  Perhaps because of your color, country of origin, education or income.  How did it affect you?  Have you ever “stereotyped” or labeled someone?  When?

Making Contact:

Review the story of Cornelius and Peter in Acts 10:1-48.  Why was Cornelius stereotyped?  What did God do to show Peter that stereotyping was wrong?  How many times did God have to do what he did for Peter to finally learn his lesson?  Has God ever changed a paradigm in your life?  How did he do it?  How “easy” was it for you to learn?

5 Questions – Time Alone With God

1. Have you ever gone on an extended time alone with God in silence and solitude?  When?  Why?

2. What are some of the things that make it difficult for you to spend an extended time alone with God?

3. Do you ever feel pressure to please people?  Has the pressure of pleasing people ever cost you the opportunity to serve God?  Can you give any examples?

4. Who is most responsible for your “theology”, ie what you believe about God, the church, the sovereignty of God, the deity of Christ, the depravity of man, the Resurrection of Christ, the Church, and future things?

5. How do you think time alone in solitude and silence with God would help you?  What would you have to do to make it happen?
